Reflections from The Tomorrow Show

The Tomorrow Show in Oslo was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. It’s not just about creating digital solutions – it’s about co-innovating with our customers through use cases to create solutions that deliver true value. Hearing firsthand how our digital tools are transforming their operations was incredibly inspiring. Throughout the event, we saw how AI and human subject matter expertise hold the potential to reshape entire industries, making the future of work more efficient, safer and more connected. Together with our customers, we’re not just imagining this future – we’re building it.

Redefining user experiences for a connected future

A key takeaway was about the human-AI interaction. The future of AI, as I see it, is about much more than just adding digital capabilities – it’s about fundamentally transforming how we interact with technology. AI has the potential to seamlessly integrate into our daily workflows, allowing us to work smarter, faster, and enables us to make more informed decisions through real-time insights, optimising operations across industries. Instead of switching between tasks and chat windows, AI will become an integral part of our daily work, streamlining processes and enhancing productivity. In turn, AI enhances safety and empowers users to detect risks and respond swiftly. Our goal is to guide clients through this transformation journey, starting with small steps that gradually unlock the full potential of streamlined processes and increased productivity.

From predictive insights to proactive solutions

AI has the potential to revolutionise tasks like maintenance and scheduling by moving from predictive insights to proactive solutions. Imagine an AI that not only predicts when maintenance is needed but explains why, automates the preparation process, and minimises manual effort. This goes beyond a chatbot; it’s a proactive assistant that anticipates needs and provides solutions. In scheduling, AI will transform how we manage our time and resources by automating many of the processes we currently rely on manual input for. It will consider factors like employee availability or shifting priorities and automatically adjust, reducing the need for constant meetings and ensuring that schedules are always up-to-date.

Is this the golden age of industrial software with AI?

We're at the very beginning of fundamental shift in what we do with software within the industry since we’ve solved some key challenges when it comes to scalability. At scale, AI’s impact is transformative, particularly in large-scale industrial planning where the complexity of operations is immense. For example, facility turnarounds – typically involving months of planning and coordination among numerous stakeholders – can be streamlined by AI, optimising schedules and minimising downtime. This scalability is made possible through advanced AI models and partnerships with cloud hyperscalers like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, enabling endless compute and storage capacity. With this technology at hand, we are just at the beginning of this journey, and I’m excited to see where AI will take Kongsberg Digital, our customers, and the industries we serve.

The Tomorrow Show set a high bar for us in the future. I’m inspired and excited for what’s to come, and confident that we’re on the right path to shaping the future of work with AI at the core.
